The Colorado Professional Golf Association Historical Center
The Colorado Professional Golf Association (CPGA) has been serving the state of Colorado for over 100 years. In its centennial year, the CPGA honored past presidents, volunteers, and tournament players. In addition, it also held its Annual Meeting and opened a museum to commemorate its centennial.
The first official function of the CPGA was to administer the amateur match play championship. This tournament was first held in Colorado in 1901 and is still conducted today. In the 1980s, the CGA expanded its role by interpreting Rules of Golf, coordinating a statewide tournament schedule, and providing informational assistance to golfers. It also spearheaded efforts to create the Colorado Junior Golf Association, which offers introductory golf opportunities, tournaments, and rules education.
