The free-admission herpetarium contains many species of rattlesnakes, along with a large variety of other venomous snakes and tortoises. The museum also houses the city’s largest collection of rattlesnake eggs.
You’ll also get a chance to see live snake feedings at the museum. The Oklahoma City Rattlesnake Museum is a fun place for kids and adults alike to learn about and observe these venomous creatures. It’s open every day from 11 am to 4 pm. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
Don’t miss the museum’s pygmy rattlesnake exhibit. Although the museum is free to visit, they rely on donations to keep their collections going. During spring break in March, they averaged about 300 visitors per day. The exhibits at the museum include an Oklahoma pygmy rattlesnake that was caught near Shawnee. During the same month, the museum also showcased a rare species of water moccasin, the only species that lives exclusively in Southeast Oklahoma.
